About me 
James Fulcher is TU’s Stream Enhancement Specialist working in Virginia’s Shenandoah and James River basins as well as in West Virginia. He earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Environmental Science from Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, WV and his Masters in Crop and Soil Environmental Science from Virginia Tech. He was employed with the Commonwealth of Virginia for over 13 years with the Departments of Health, Conservation and Recreation, Forestry, and Transportation and also spent several years in private consulting. His work in stream restoration began with VDOT in 2001 where he attended to Environmental permitting and attended four levels of Wildland Hydrology training presented by Dave Rosgen. James is a Certified Professional Soil Scientist, Authorized Onsite Soil Evaluator, Erosion and Sediment Control Combined Administrator, Private Pilot and has pursued continuing education in Civil Engineering, Geographic Information Systems, Computer-Aided Drafting and Design, and Land Surveying. He resides in Albemarle County with his wife and 16 year-old daughter. His family also operates a cow-calf operation in Amherst County. The Fulcher Family Farm is under a permanent Conservation Easement and was awarded the Department of Conservation and Recreation’s Clean Water Farm and James River Grand Basin award in 2000.
